About us

Canterbury Triathlon Club was established in 1986 and has a rich history in developing triathlon and triathletes locally. We cater to all athletes, currently our youngest member is 6 and our oldest is 77. We have a vibrant junior section, weekend warriors and elites competing internationally. Our membership includes legends of the sport like Scott Molina, through to current day international athletes like Mike Phillips and Brea Roderick. Another NZ legend to come though our ranks was Andrea Hewitt. We run structured training programmes for all abilities and run around ten events per year across triathlon and duathlon.

Why join us

The club has a wonderful welcoming family atmosphere. Our events are regularly sold out, our membership is growing, we offer a place for like-minded individuals to come together to train, to learn new skills and to have a good laugh along the way!

What makes us different than the others

In 2026 we made some great progress in the disability space, partnering with Special Olympics and Halberg to promote triathlon in the disabled primary school community and then running our very first adaptive triathlon for around 70 local secondary school students.
