Saudi Arabia: The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sela, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company and a leading Saudi company redefining experiences and developing premium destinations across entertainment, sports and culture, to establish a framework for a long-term partnership focused on the commercial development and delivery of PTO events in Saudi Arabia.
Under the MoU, Sela and PTO intend to begin their collaboration on the Saudi Arabia T100 Triathlon. They also intend to work together on the expanded Triathlon World Tour, in conjunction with World Triathlon, which is planned to begin in 2027.
“This MoU with Sela represents another exciting step forward for mass participation in the Kingdom and we look forward to working with them on the upcoming Saudi Arabia T100 Triathlon,” said PTO CEO Sam Renouf.
“Sela has been instrumental in some of the highest profile sports and entertainment events happening in the world over the last few years, including the groundbreaking Riyadh and Jeddah Seasons as well as international football, motorsport and boxing events. It is exactly this kind of expertise that we need to take triathlon to new heights in the region.”

The PTO signed an MoU with the Saudi Triathlon Federation at the end of last year to accelerate the growth of triathlon across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in which it had set out its aims to establish a framework to develop the sport from grassroots to elite levels while inspiring mass participation and healthy lifestyles throughout the country.

The T100 heads to the French Riviera next on 19 September later this month, following successful events already this year on the Gold Coast (21-22 March) and in Singapore (25-26 April), Spain (23-24 May), San Francisco (6-7 June) and Vancouver (15-16 August). New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde leads the men’s T100 Race To Qatar, whilst Swiss star Julie Derron leads the women’s series.

How the 2026 T100 Triathlon World Tour works:
- Athletes score 35 points for first place to 1 pt for 20th place at each of the races; 2nd – 29 points; and 3rd – 26 points
- The Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final has increased points to up the ante (55 pts down to 4 pts)
- Each athlete’s best three T100 race scores plus the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will count towards the women’s and men’s T100 World Championship titles
- $275,000 USD prize fund at each T100, totalling $2,750,000 across the nine races (1st place – $50,000k; 2nd – $40,000; 3rd – $30,000 at each race)
- The series winners following the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will be crowned T100 Triathlon World Champion and collect $100,000 USD from an additional total prize pool of $1,450,000 (2nd – $80,000; 3rd – 75,000)
