Rules and Regulations

RACE ENTRY

  1. On-the-spot entries will not be accepted.
  2. The Organiser will not be responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete and/or incorrect entry details given by the participants.
  3. Age category is determined by the participant’s age on 31 December 2024.
  4. Participants must be 18 years old on 31 December 2024 to compete.
  5. All changes to race entry or personal details must be made 10 days before race day.
  6. Individual race entries are not transferable. Any person racing with another athlete’s race number will be held responsible in case of an accident arising from or provoked by the other person during the race. The Organiser reserves the right to exclude both parties from future events.
  7. Verbal abuse of our staff via email, telephone or in person will not be tolerated. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel an athlete’s entry at any time if their actions are deemed in breach of this rule.
  8. The Organiser, in its sole discretion, may delay, modify, or cancel the Event for any reason, including if it believes the conditions on the race day are unsafe. In the event the Event is delayed, modified, or cancelled, including but not limited to acts of God or the elements (including without limitation, wind, rough water, rain, hail, hurricane, tornado, earthquake), acts of terrorism, epidemic or pandemic, fire, threatened or actual strike, labour difficulty, work stoppage, insurrection, war, public disaster, flood, unavoidable casualty, race course conditions, or any other cause beyond the control of The Organiser, there shall be no refund of entry fee or any other costs incurred in connection with the Event.

GENERAL

  1. The Organiser reserve the right to:
    • Limit and refuse entries.
    • Remove any participant deemed physically incapable of continuing the race.
    • Amend the race rules without prior notification.
    • Amend the race course and venue without prior notice to participants.
  2. Participants are required to place their bicycles and gear at their designated location in the transition area.
  3. Prior to race day, in the event of inclement weather, force majeure or other hazardous conditions, The Organiser reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the race or change the venue and race course and distance without any refund of registration fees.
  4. On race day, in the event of inclement weather, force majeure or other hazardous conditions, The Organiser reserves the right to delay the commencement of the race, shorten the race, modify the course or change venue.
    • Should the inclement weather or other hazardous conditions persist after the delay, The Organiser reserves the right to cancel the race.
    • The swim, bike and run disciplines may have time limitations. Participants that do not make the time limit will be removed from the course.
  5. The Race Director, The Organiser have overall authority over the race results and interpretation of the race rules.
  6. Participants shall be aware that while all possible care will be taken by the event organiser to safeguard the bag deposit items, The Organiser shall not be held liable in the unlikely event of missing or damaged items. Participants are advised to avoid depositing valuable or fragile items while using the bag drop service.

SWIM

  1. Swimsuits must be worn.
  2. All swimmers must wear the swim caps provided by the organiser.
  3. Swim goggles may be worn.
  4. Swim safety buoys, fins, paddles, pool buoys, snorkels or any other swimming aids are not allowed.
  5. Wetsuits are not allowed.
  6. Support crews are not allowed. Any assistance, other than medical aid received during the swim will result in immediate disqualification.
  7. No persons other than the participants and officials are permitted in the swimming area.
  8. Swimmers in difficulty shall signal by raising an arm to the escorting boats/canoes for assistance.
  9. Once assistance is rendered, the competitor must retire from the competition.
  10. Athletes must be competent swimmers to participate in the event. During registration you will be asked to confirm that you have completed at least three (3) open water swims in your lifetime. You must also submit proof that you have completed an open water swim of distance of 1500m or greater at a pace of 2min30sec per 100m or faster, (ie a time of 37min30sec for 1500m or 47min30sec for 1900m). 
  11. On race day, athletes must complete the first 200m of their swim within 5 minutes. Athletes who fail to do this will be removed from the swim course.

Breach of any of the above rules will result in disqualification.

Bike

  1. No bare torso is allowed at any time.
  2. Helmets must be worn.
  3. Shoes must be worn.
  4. Wearing headphones is not allowed at any time.
  5. E-bikes, fixed gear and reclining bikes are not permitted. 
  6. There is a 20m drafting rule to ensure as fair a race as possible. Competitors will be spread across the course thanks to age-group wave starts.

Breach of any of the above rules will result in disqualification.

RUN

  1. Runners must wear their race number clearly visible at the front of their apparel at all times.
  2. Support vehicles or pacers are not allowed.
  3. Runners must run on the designated path for the entire route.
  4. No bare torso is allowed at any time.
  5. Barefoot running is not allowed, shoes must be worn at all times during the run leg.
  6. Wearing of headphones is not allowed at any time.

Breach of any of the above rules will result in disqualification.

TRANSITION

  1. Participants are required to place their bicycles and gear at their designated location in the transition area.
  2. Bike covers are not allowed.
  3. Athletes must place all their equipment in the transition bags provided, with the exception of cycling shoes if they are fixed on the pedals.
  4. Athletes may rack  their bike either with the saddle or both brake levers hooked on the horizontal bar of the bike rack.

TEAM RELAY

  1. Team relay may consist of two or three team members
  2. Team members must hand over in the dedicated Relay Handover area in Transition prior to beginning the next leg.
  3. Only the runner may enter the finish chute and cross the finish line.  The cyclist and runner may wait in the Athlete Recovery area after their leg of the race.
