London, UK: The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), World Triathlon and British Triathlon have announced the T50 and T100 amateur races have gone on general sale today for the London Triathlon taking place 21-22 August, 2027.
Available at https://t100triathlon.com/london/participate/, the two races will be part of event’s fourth edition at Excel London which earlier this year saw more than 5,000 participants from first timers to Olympic champions swim, bike and run around the city.
The world’s best Olympic athletes will also be returning as part of the rebranded T50 World Championship Tour, which saw British Olympic Champions Alex Yee and Georgia Taylor-Brown and World Champion Beth Potter take part this summer.
“We’re excited to be back at Excel London for our fourth year and to get the amateur T50 and T100 races on general sale,” said PTO CEO Sam Renouf.
“We’ve already seen huge demand following our successful event in London earlier this year. So I would encourage everyone to sign up quickly and to also look out for more amateur distances and relays going on sale soon – as we continue to build the event and encourage athletes of all ages and abilities to get involved.”
Taking On The Challenge Of Three Sports In One
Former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw was one of those first timers, competing alongside his Strictly Come Dancing co-star and professional dancer Julian Caillon.
Chris said: “What struck me most was the community. The camaraderie is what I miss most since I retired from rugby. In rugby, you’re going up against another team, so you’re probably not helping them. Out there, you’re chatting to people on the bike and encouraging people who are struggling on the run.”
Julian said: “London T100 race day itself was so much fun. What really stood out, though, was the people. Some people will have to stop at some point, because of cramp or because it’s a tough event, and everyone’s there saying, “Come on, mate, you’ve got this.” When you look around, whether people are racing, supporting or volunteering, everyone’s got a smile on their face and is feeling the joy of the moment. It doesn’t matter where you come from, or what background you have, triathlon is for everyone.”

Ana Vieira has participated at the last two London T100 events and is part of community groups that support women in triathlon, including Badu, Women in Tri and SwimmerBolts:
“I was a complete beginner swimmer. I started attending swimming and running sessions with Badu. One of the things I loved most about the T100 was how inclusive it is. It doesn’t matter whether you’re an elite athlete chasing a podium or someone like me simply trying to conquer your fears and finish your first triathlon; everyone is made to feel welcome. Seeing people of different ages, abilities and backgrounds taking part together was incredibly inspiring, and it showed me that triathlon really is a sport for everyone.”

At 86 years old, John Thorpe was the oldest participant at this year’s London T100. For anyone who is debating trying a triathlon, John’s advice is very simple: “Have a go! You can start by doing a relay, where you can just swim, bike or run, and see how you get on doing just one of the items and see how you get on with that. That might give you the appetite for doing the whole thing yourself!”
