For most of its history, triathlon has been fractured – different circuits, different organisers, different seasons and no obvious way to follow end to end – or to work out where your own racing fitted in.
The Triathlon World Tour changes that. It is a united tour of pro and age-group events spanning both Olympic-style short-course racing and 100km long-course racing, built by the PTO and World Triathlon and taking in the races formerly known as the T100 Triathlon World Tour, the World Triathlon Championship Series, the World Triathlon Cups and Challenge Family.
How it Works
The professional Triathlon World Tour runs across two types of racing and on two levels.
Two distances. T100 is 100km racing – no drafting allowed on the bike, the apex of speed, endurance and grit. T50 is Olympic-distance and sprint-distance short-course racing – draft legal, fast, tactical and built for close finishes. Each has its own season and crowns its own world champion.
Two levels. At the top sit the T100 World Championship Tour and the T50 World Championship Tour: the flagship events, the deepest fields, and a World Championship Final at the end of each season that crowns the official world champion at that distance.
Beneath them, the T100 Challenger and T50 Cup series form the proving ground. These are full-blooded international races in their own right – many with decades of history and a loyal following – and they are now also where the next generation earns its place. Results here feed a pathway into Championship Tour racing.
Every event on the Tour keeps its own character. Challenger and Cup races stay with the organisers and host cities that built them – the same courses, the same crowds, now part of something bigger.
Race It Yourself
Every event on the Triathlon World Tour is open to amateur athletes as well as professionals. Same weekend, same city, same finish line.
That is the part no other sport offers. You don’t just watch the Tour from behind a barrier – you enter it. Pick a distance that suits you, from a first sprint to a full 100km, and race with a global community of multi-sport enthusiasts.
