- Olympic bronze medal winning boxer Harry Garside tackles T100
- 2025 WTCS champion Matt Hauser to run Gold Coast 10km runย
Gold Coast, Australia – Australian boxing star Harry Garside will step into a very different arena this weekend when he takes on the Gold Coast T100 Triathlon to help him recapture his spark for boxing.
Best known for his achievements in the ring and winning an Olympic bronze medal at Tokyo 2020, Garside is embracing the opportunity to test himself across different sports and challenge his body in new ways.ย
He will do the Professional Triathletes Organisationโs signature 100km triathlon (2km swim, 80km bike, 18km run) at the inaugural Gold Coast T100 Triathlon, which will also see the worldโs top 20 female triathletes – including home favourite Ellie Salthouse – compete in the opening event of this seasonโs T100 Race To Qatar as well as thousands of amateurs taking part across 100km and Olympic distance triathlons and a 10km run.ย ย
โI canโt wait for this event. Iโm really excited to push myself in a completely different environment and seeing what Iโm capable of,โ said the 28-year-old Garside.
โBoxing will always be a huge part of who I am, but right now Iโm enjoying learning, being uncomfortable again and saying yes to new challenges. The reason why Iโm trying so many different things is I just felt thereโs a little spark inside myself missing. We get one life and I want to try as many things as possible.โ
Adding an extra dimension to his decision to take part in the event, Garside will line up alongside a group of old school friends, sharing the experience on one of the worldโs premier triathlon stages.
โTo be able to do this on the Gold Coast, at a global event, and share it with mates I grew up with makes it really special,โ he said.
โWeโre not chasing podiums โ itโs about the journey, the connection and taking part in something bigger.โ
2025 WTCS Champion To Run Gold Coast 10km Run
Fellow Aussie Matt Hauser, who won the World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) in 2025 has also decided to get involved in the festival-style weekend and join thousands of amateurs running the Gold Coast 10km.ย
Heโs even called out British Olympic champion Alex Yee on his social channel, to pace him in the 10km event. Yee is on the Gold Coast with British Triathlon for an elite triathlon training camp after taking a break from triathlon in 2025 to focus on marathon running.ย

The Gold Coast T100 Triathlon is helping to showcase the region to a worldwide audience while reinforcing the Gold Coastโs reputation as a leading destination for major sporting events.
Events Management Queensland CEO Ben Mannion said the T100 was a huge drawcard for the Gold Coast and Queensland, that would deliver significant economic benefits to the region as part of a multi-year deal heading into the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
โWeโre really excited to be bringing the T100 event to the Gold Coast which will inject an estimated $20 Million into the Gold Coast and Queensland economy,โ said Mannion.
โThe T100 is one of the most exciting events to come to this city and is another opportunity to celebrate our sporting culture and passion ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.โ
โItโs going to be a massive event headlined by the top 20 female athletes from all around the world, complemented by amateur triathlon events and the new 10km fun run which has already proven popular with participants.โ
The race is part of Event Management Queenslandโs expanding portfolio of major sporting events. It is also supported by Experience Gold Coast and the Queensland Government through Tourism & Events Queensland.
