London, UK: The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) have announced that Oropesa del Mar will be the new venue for the sixth T100 event of the season, following the need to relocate it from the originally scheduled host city of Valencia.

The historic town in Castellรณn, located just 45 minutes from Valencia, offers an exceptional setting along with a well-regarded triathlon course and infrastructure to host the professional races. The worldโ€™s top 20 female and top 20 male triathletes will compete over the PTO 100km distance (2 km swim, 80 km bike, 18 km run), taking place on the same date that was initially planned for Valencia โ€“ 20 September.

โ€œWe are pleased to announce this new T100 venue for the sixth race of the season and we are grateful to Oropesa del Mar and its mayor, Mr. Rafael Albert, as well as to our partners at the Spanish Triathlon Federation, for stepping up at such short notice to help us deliver a world-class event,โ€ said Sam Renouf, CEO of PTO.

โ€œWe have always wanted to stage a competition in the Valencian Community as originally planned. It was important for us to ensure a T100 race remained in the key Spanish market, while also keeping our promise of a nine-event T100 circuit announced at the start of the season โ€” and we have achieved that.โ€

โ€œOf course, we acknowledge that this year there have been some challenges in the T100 calendar that both our professional and amateur athletes have had to deal with, and we are very grateful for their continued patience and support. Delivering world-class triathlon events is never simple, especially when building a new series โ€” as anyone in the industry knows well. But we are very satisfied with the first four T100 races of 2025 held in Singapore, San Francisco, Vancouver and London. Each has raised the standard and clearly shown the direction we want to take the series and the T100. Now we look forward with excitement to delivering the second half of the season, beginning in a few weeks with our brand new French Riviera T100 weekend.โ€

According to Oropesa del Marโ€™s Sports Councillor, Sonia Bellรฉs: โ€œThis event is yet another example of our commitment to sports tourism. I thank the Spanish Federation for choosing our town to host this beautiful competition. Once again, Oropesa del Mar will be the stage for an international event.โ€

Ms. Marta Barrachina, President of the Castellรณn Provincial Council, stated: โ€œThis triathlon adds to the calendar of sporting events hosted by our province, a unique land that offers athletes the best climate and an enviable terrain for sports practice.โ€ She added: โ€œWith major international events such as this T100 Triathlon, which we will now host for the first time in Oropesa del Mar, we further strengthen Castellรณn as a leading sports destination.โ€

Luis Cervera, Director General of Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana, stated: โ€œThe celebration of the PTO race in Oropesa reaffirms the role of the Valencian Community as a national and international benchmark in triathlon, completing a sports calendar that reflects our strong tradition and commitment to sport in general and to triathlon in particular.โ€

Spanish Triathlon Federation president, Josรฉ Hidalgo, highlighted: โ€œSpain, which was a key race on the inaugural T100 circuit in 2024, could not be left out this year. Our country breathes triathlon and is a global benchmark in hosting major events. We also want to be the home of major private operators such as T100, and therefore we deeply thank PTO for its support and sensitivity in ensuring this race remains on our calendar.โ€

Thanks to the joint effort with Oropesa, the Generalitat and T100, we can confirm that the race will go ahead on the same scheduled date. International triathlon will shine again in Spain, now with Oropesa as the stage for an unforgettable challenge.
