London, UK: The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) has revealed a breathtaking 100km amateur course for its French Riviera T100 Triathlon weekend on 30-31 August, as the event went on general sale this morning https://t100triathlon.com/french-riviera/participate/ย

PTO CEO Sam Renouf believes the unrivalled setting and course layout will help the event โ€˜become the Roc dโ€™Azur of triathlonโ€™ and cement its place as an iconic venue in the sport.ย

Talking as the 100km amateur course for the French Riviera T100 Triathlon went on general sale, Renouf said: โ€œThe Roc dโ€™Azur is considered one of the world’s biggest mountain bike gatherings, offering a variety of races, hikes, and a large expo area showcasing the latest mountain biking equipment and technology. All taking place on this renown coastline in France. Whilst weโ€™re obviously at a very early stage in our journey with the T100 event here, weโ€™ve made good progress and have a stunning 100km amateur course that will see participants enjoy closed roads on the bike for the first time in a triathlon event of this scale. So I firmly believe we have the right ingredients to create a Roc dโ€™Azur for triathlon.โ€ย

The Roc dโ€™Azur is a huge annual mountain biking event held in Frรฉjus and Roquebrune-sur-Argens every October, drawing more than 20,000 participants and features a variety of races, trails and activities catering for all levels.ย

The French Riviera T100 Triathlon 100km amateur course features:ย

  • A picturesque sea swim off the Base Nature Franรงois Lรฉotard in Frรฉjus.
  • An undulating 80km bike course on closed roads, taking participants along the Corniche dโ€™Or Road (Saint-Raphaรซl) for the first time on a journey between sea and mountains, crossing two local departments – the Var and the Alpes-Maritimes – on roads usually open to traffic.
  • Other notable features include:ย
    • Passing the famous red rocks of the Estรฉrelย
    • Taking in some of the gems of the Cรดte dโ€™Azur, including: Saint-Raphaรซl, Boulouris, Agay, Thรฉoule-sur-Mer, Mandelieu-la-Napoule and Les Adrets-de-l’Estรฉrel; before diving into the heart of the magnificent Estรฉrel Massif.
    • Going past the famous Col du Testanier with a climb of 600 meters to Mont Vinaigre before the returning downhill via Saint-Aygulf with views of the sea
  • A five-lap run course takes place entirely within the scenic Base Nature Franรงois Lรฉotard in Frรฉjus, offering a flat, fast, and spectator-friendly route

โ€œI know first-hand what a great venue this will be for the 100km amateur event. The swim, bike and run courses are all stunning,โ€ said Lรฉo Bergรจre, the Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist who finished second in the Singapore T100 Triathlon race earlier this month and lives and trains locally.ย

โ€œThereโ€™s a very strong endurance sports community in the area, so the atmosphere will be both very welcoming and encouraging for everyone who attends. So I encourage everyone to either sign up for an event or come along and support.โ€ย

In addition to the 100km amateur race, the weekend will also include Olympic and Sprint distance triathlons for amateurs – as well as the opportunity to watch the worldโ€™s leading male and female triathletes race head-to-head in both a T100 and World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) race. As announced earlier this month, the French Riviera T00 Triathlon will host a T100 and WTCS race on the same weekend and in the same location for the first time. It will also be the first WTCS race to be held in France since the competition was introduced in 2009.ย
